The Take Back Our Radio! IWD National Radio Action (recorded on March 11, at the Imperial Pub in Toronto) marks a historic and powerful grass-rooted initiative in the local history of community-powered media.
In 2008, 53 volunteer programmers were 'fired' from campus-community radio station CKLN 88.1 FM in Toronto without explanation. In celebration of International Women's Day, on March 11 of 2009, locked-out CKLN hosts and DJs streamed onto the internet and reclaimed the lost airwaves.
