Special International Women's Day Mass Against Police Brutality

The Spanish speaking congregation at the Church of San Lorenzo is inviting the broader community to a special religious service to expose and challenge police brutality and racism. It will mark International Womens Day and women from the local community will speak on the impact of police violence on their families. Oscar, a young man from El Salvador will speak on his own treatment at the hands of the Police as will Jama Jama from the Somali community who recently had bogus charges laid against him withdrawn after the police beating he was subjected to was effectively exposed. Lisa Koscis from OCAP will also make a presentation on her experiences and the conclusions around resistance that she has drawn.
Following the Service, there will be music, food and discussion of a city wide meeting to plan a powerful response to police terror in poor and immigrant communities.
